Sedan 2011 är institutionen för freds- och konfliktforskning vid Uppsala universitet värd för ett av de sju Rotary International Peace Centers. Det innebär att studenter från hela världen kan ansöka om Rotarys stipendier för att läsa ett masterprogram i freds- och konfliktstudier vid Uppsala universitet.
Talarna Katherine Ronderos och Daniela Sanchez bakgrund kan man läsa om nedan;
Katherine Ronderos is an international consultant and NGO director from
Colombia with a demonstrated history of over 15 years working in the sector of
women’s rights, peace, security, and development. She has broad professional
experience in the U.K., Honduras, Colombia and more recently Thailand during
her extended Rotary Applied Field Experience (AFE), working with women victims
of war, leading initiatives for the elimination of violence against women,
women’s empowerment and participation in peace-building processes.
As Director of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom in
Colombia (LIMPAL in Spanish) Katherine contributed to the inclusion of the
gender perspective in the 2016 Colombian peace agreement. She has also worked
for the U.N. to deliver training to former combatants, military, government,
and U.N. personnel on the prevention of sexual violence in the context of armed
conflict, as well as providing technical advice on security and risk analysis
with a gender perspective in the context of disarmament, demobilization, and
reintegration (DDR) processes.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Saint Thomas University
in Colombia and an MSc in Development Studies from London South Bank University
in the U.K.
Daniela Sánchez is a Colombian professional in
International Relations with over nine years of experience in public policy,
human rights, social entrepreneurship, and peacebuilding. She has a diverse
career that spans government, international cooperation, and academia. As a
government official at the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, she led
dialogues between the government and the country's largest indigenous group.
She also served at the Presidential Council for the Stabilization and
Consolidation of Peace in Colombia, contributing to the enhancement and
monitoring of key aspects of the Peace Agreement, including rural development
and access to land. At the National Planning Department, she worked in the
development and monitoring of public policies.
In the international cooperation sector, Daniela has participated in projects
funded by USAID, the European Union, and Sweden, aimed at strengthening the
capacities of vulnerable populations, safeguarding their rights, and empowering
them through social entrepreneurship. In academia, she has been an assistant
teacher in International Relations. More recently, in Sweden, she has worked as
a research assistant in the Department of Peace and Conflict at Uppsala
University and in the Department of Economic History and International
Relations at Stockholm University.
Driven by a lifelong commitment to "to be more, to serve better," she
is profoundly dedicated to advancing peace, ensuring access to democracy, and
reducing inequalities.
She has a degree in International Affairs from
Universidad del Rosario, Colombia, and a Master in Security and Defense from
the National War College and Defense of Colombia. Her Rotary sponsor district
